Winterize it right, or run it right through winter. Your call, we handle both.
Freeze damage is the most expensive mistake a Colorado tub owner can make, and wood tubs add a twist: they can't just sit empty. We close tubs and plunges down properly in fall and bring them back perfectly in spring.
Option one: run it all winter (our favorite)
A hot soak with snow falling is the whole point of owning a tub in Colorado. On a weekly plan, winter operation is safe: we keep chemistry tight, watch water levels, and catch small problems before a cold snap turns them into burst plumbing. Most of our plan clients never close their tubs at all.
Option two: a professional closing
A proper Colorado winterization is more than pulling the drain plug:
- Full drain and interior clean
- Lines, pump, and heater cleared of water: the step DIY closings miss, and the one that prevents cracked equipment
- Filter removal and storage
- For wood tubs: a freeze plan that accounts for the wood, because a cedar tub left empty and untended through a dry Colorado winter will shrink and leak at refill
- Cover secured for snow load
Spring opening
In spring we reverse it: inspect, refill, re-swell wood tubs on the correct schedule, balance the water, and hand you back a ready tub. Opening is also when we recommend starting a weekly plan: the season starts balanced and stays that way.
Book early
Closing season is late September through November, and the calendar fills. If you're reading this in fall, book now; the first hard freeze doesn't wait.
